Tips for driving in Salzburg
It’s worth checking the driving rules in Austria before you travel. In Salzburg as in the rest of Austria and mainland Europe, you will be driving on the right-hand side of the road. There are some specific driving rules in Austria to be aware of. Seat belts should be worn by all occupants of the car and the fine for not buckling up is €35. In some mountain roads there is no automatic priority and where the road narrows, both drivers should stop and one should reverse to the nearest passing place. Parking charges apply in Salzburg as with other Austrian cities but most sites operate mobile payment options.
